Any business success is credited to a dream… The founder Late Shri Tilokchand C. Shah dreamt of setting up a diversified business in Specialty Chemicals with a humble endeavour after his successful presence in Stainless Steel segment since 1970s.
Brick by brick, over the years, the small setup launched in 1988 went on to become a name to reckon with in the Specialty Intermediates field.
Here’s a snapshot of Ambuja Intermediates journey of success:
1988 : | “Ambuja Intermediate Products Private Limited” was setup under an exemplary leadership of Mr. Tilokchand C. Shah (Founder Chairman of Ambuja Group), Mr. Gambhirmal R. Shah, and Mr. Mahendra Patel with an objective of setting up a Dye-Intermediates manufacturing unit with an installed capacity: 120 MTPA. Amalgamation of Ambuja Organics Pvt. Ltd. into Ambuja Intermediates Limited. |
1991 : | The company went on to become India’s largest producer of Leather Dye Intermediate – BDH. |
1993 : | Ambuja Intermediates increased production capacity for Benzene & Toluene based Dye-Intermediates with new Unit No. 2. Switched the production of BDH under the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986, and begun manufacturing substitute products viz. DASA, F. C. Acid, DABA etc. |
1996 : | Set up of New Unit Nos.: 3 & 4 for Naphthalene based Intermediates & Specialty Intermediates for Custom Synthesis & Toll manufacturing respectively and thereby increased the aggregate installed capacity. |
1998 : | Undertook expansion-cum-modernization of projects. |
2000 : | AIL became instrumental in forming ‘Mehsana Enviro Association’ to set up a secured land fill site and thereby protect the environment by arranging proper disposal of solid wastes being generated by the industries located in and around the district. |
2001 : | Setup of R&D division to support Custom Synthesis & Tolling business under NDA. Achieved remarkable process optimization in the key intermediate – H-Acid by in-house R&D which staged Indian producers on a new platform vis-a-vis Chinese competition. Acquisition of Dyestuff plant in Vatva, Gujarat. |
2003 : | Dyestuff production offered to existing MNC’s to support commodity color’s competitiveness. |
2004 : | Received the Export Award “Hon Governor of Gujarat” for outstanding export performance during 2003-04 by Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industries. Accredited with ISO 9001:2000 Certificate for its EXPORT Division. Installation and commissioning of first windmill of 1.25MW at Navadara, Jamnagar, Gujarat. |
2005 : | Received “FIRST AWARD” for outstanding export performance in 2003-04 & 2004-05 from Hon. Minister Shri Kamalnathji. Installation and commissioning of second windmill of 1.25MW at Navadara, Jamnagar, Gujarat. Diversification into Castor Oil & Derivatives business by setting up a state-of-the-art Cold Press unit – AMBUJA SOLVEX PVT LTD. |
2007 : | Received the prestigious “TRISHUL AWARD” for outstanding export performance in 2005-06 from Hon. Minister Shri Jyotiradityaji Scindia. Installation and commissioning of third windmill of 1.5MW at Kutch District, Gujarat. |
2008 : | Another diversification of group into Renewable Energy Generation Plants from Biomass fuels with 10MW each capacity in Maharashtra. Installed and commissioned state-of-the-art catalytic hydrogenation plant to ensure environment friendly operations. |
2010 : | Export Division QMS upgraded from ISO 9001:2000 to ISO 9001:2008 certificate. |
2011 : | Received the prestigious “PLATINUM AWARD” for outstanding export performance from Hon. Minister Shri Shrikant Kumar Jena. Acquisition of Ambuja Solvex Pvt. Ltd. as a wholly owned subsidiary of Ambuja Intermediates Ltd. with effect from 1-4-2011. |
